Scout Memorial at the National Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffordshire

Campfires burning?

During a weekend of activities which was our Summer Camp this year, we travelled to Alrewas to the National Arboretum to visit the Scout Memorial which depicts the essence of the Scouting Spirit and Values all across the world.

Arranged around a campfire, all the blocks depict the different elements of Scouting. Around the outer edge of the circle, all the names of the countries around the world that are involved in Scouting, can be seen.

Also while we were there, the new Scouts got to learn about one of our former members, who tragically lost his life in an accident whilst serving in the RAF back in 2011. His name appears on the main memorial along with other Service personnel who have lost there lives whilst in service since 1945.
