December 2016 marked an important time for Leader development, with a Leaders weekend away. All sections were represented and the ‘Training’ began on Friday night, after a 2 hour journey into the Peak District to Gradbach near Buxton.

On Saturday we had a good breakfast and headed to Ashbourne for some hands on methods of dealing with Challenging behaviour in the morning – paint balling!.

After some lunch we took part in some trailblazing around the local countryside on quad bikes. After a short instructional video, it was time to get dressed up with safety gear and head out into the fields and woods. Lots of tricky manoeuvres to make, through water filled mud tracks and over steep mounds, before going flat out across the fields.

Saturday evening and everyone helped with a cooked meal and a quiz hosted by Ian. A good night was had by all.

Sunday arrived and the weather was cold and windy, so we strode out up through the woods onto the Roaches, a nearby ridge where we traversed to the ‘Hanging Stone’ a rock promentary, before heading back via ‘Luds Church’, before heading for a meal and then home to our families!
